Understanding the Value of Motion Sensors

motion sensorsIf you have a security system already in place then you are already reaping the benefits that motion sensors have to offer. If you don’t have security in place then you want to include in your thinking the value that motion sensors can have, not only for protection but for convenience.

You are probably more familiar with motion detectors when it comes to lighting. This is often the type of security lighting that is used outdoors. Some people are hesitant to install this type of motion detector because they find it annoying to have the exterior lights come on and off and it may make them feel nervous. At first when this type of motion sensor first came out it was triggered easily and people found it annoying. The technology has been greatly improved since then, and allowances for normal motion has been addressed. Now they provide great value in lighting up an area that is not easily seen to alert you that something is moving about.

There is also the convenience factor. If you are out late at night and a family member forgets to leave an exterior light on for you this can be really inconvenient. It is quite pleasant to be able to walk up to your front door and have the light come on for you. While motion lights used to mostly for outdoor lighting they have proven to be of value indoors. These are particularly good for seniors who get up through the night as motion sensor night lights can provide just enough lighting for them to see without having to search for the light switch or disturbing others by turning on the major lights.

Motion camera detectors are something else that are being considered, which are outside of the scope of the regular CCTV security cameras. These are the type that are buried in objects and some have used them to monitor their child care provider for example.

One increasingly popular type of motion detector are the ones that alert you when someone has entered your driveway. There are a lot of benefits to these. They can let you know if someone happens to be around your vehicle when it is parked in this location. For those that have long driveways it serves as an alert that someone is out there. For seniors it gives them a pre-warning that someone has arrived.

Finally there are the motion sensors that make up part of your security system. These are highly important for the added protection that a security system affords. They are used on doorways and windows for example.

Getting past the stigma that motion sensors are more trouble than beneficial will really help you to step up the protection that your family, home and business needs.
