There are many causes for fires which can occur in your home.
Us the following preventive measures to help avoid fires in your home
1. Never leave young children alone in your home
2. Make sure ashtrays are stable and designed
securely to hold a lite cigarette. Make sure all cigarettes
are out before emptying an ashtray.
3. Do not smoke when you are tired and sleepy
4. check for faulty electrical wiring.
Electrical fires may smoulder for days behind walls before erupting into
a full blown fire.
5. Do not store any flammable liquids in your
house like gasoline.
6. Check all electrical equipment (stereo,
television, etc.) to be sure they are functioning properly. All of
these require ventilation or else they can overheat and cause a fire.
7. Have your furnace examined at the beginning
of each heating season for potential hazards such as clogged outlets,
leaks or a week pilot light.
8. Your fireplace should always have a screen to
contain flying sparks or embers. A wood stove should also have a
base made of a non-combustible material. Check with a stove dealer
or your local fire department for directions regarding proper base
construction.
9. Clean your chimney at least once a year.
If it is used a lot more frequently clean it twice a year. Soot
built up in the chimney can cause a fire cable of either burning through
cracks in the chimney or raining sparks on the roof.

plug connections.
