Its kind of a scary thought. If you are thinking about this, then it may be that you don’t feel like you are going to be very secure in your new home. Or it could be that you recently saw a re-run of the movie panic room.<\/p>\n

Most Toronto homes don’t have a specific designated safe room and its not really something that we give a lot of thought to. In the USA though this is a much bigger deal. In these cases its not just because of a fear of a home invasion, they are looked on as a place to go to protect them from perils like tornadoes.<\/p>\n

For awhile they did become a little trendy. In Mexico the very rich started having them built into their home to protect them from becoming kidnapped. In the UK it became a little more popular.<\/p>\n

You really need to determine for what reason you would want a safe room, and do you really want to allocate the space and expense for this.<\/p>\n

Probably the more feasible steps to take would to concentrate on the safety security features that you could have built into your home, without going to the limits of a safe room.<\/p>\n

You can decide if you want wired or wireless security if you are having a new home built. If you are really nervous or feel that you need extra security then you can purchase a high end security system, and make sure that you can take advantage of a monitoring service.<\/p>\n

You can use a perimeter gating system, and have security cameras installed.<\/p>\n

Before making any decisions what you should do is contact security experts<\/a> like those at Pre-lock. Tell them what your concerns are. Explain to them where your new home is going to be. If the house is in the pre-built stage rely on them to plan your security for you based on your concerns and needs.<\/p>\n

You will probably find that once you do this you are going to feel much more secure, no matter whether your new home is going to be a country home, or a large estate house.<\/p>\n
