Planning Your New Home Build Security with a Wired Security System

wired securityNow that we have looked at a variety of steps that you can take to really beef up your new home build security, we need to look at the grand daddy of them all when it comes to your security. This is your main security system, and you have to make the decision as to whether you want this to be a wired security system, or a wireless security system.

Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages, but you have the luxury of choosing either. In many cases when the home is already built the home owners don’t want to go to the hassle of having a wired system installed. You however, are just in the process of the new home built so installing a wired security system won’t be a big hassle. It is just a matter of is this the type that you really want?

Some of the significant advantages are…

In most cases the sensors are attached directly to the alarm by cables. This often means less interference which could affect the integrity of the system.

Prices are comparable when it comes to both the wired and wireless, but many times the wired system may be less expensive. However, don’t use price as the priority for making your decisions.

Some of the disadvantages

A wired security system is permanent. This means you are going to be able to rely on it for a very long time. However, if your plan is to move in a few years you won’t be able to take the system with you as you could do with a wireless system. At the same time the wired security system can be an excellent extra selling feature when you do decide to sell the home.

If you do decide to go with the wired system be sure to use professionals like those at Pre-lock to both design and install your system. Don’t leave it in the hands of the builders. You want to be sure that you are getting the very best in quality.

You also need to develop a full understanding of the capabilities and workings of the system you have installed. When you use professional experts for installing your security system, they are going to make sure that you are comfortable with the security that is being put in place.

At the same time you can discuss all of the other various security measures that you can take to beef up your new home security.

Do not consider a do it yourself installation for your security needs. No doubt you have put a great deal of money into your new home build. Don’t start cutting costs as it relates to your security needs.

When you use established security providers that have a good reputation then you can rely on them to only suggest what is specifically needed for the security of your home and family. They are not going to try and upsell you on security items that aren’t needed.

While the wired security system is a great choice you may prefer what the wireless systems have to offer which we will be talking about in a future post.
