Planning Your New Home Build Security The Interior windows and doors

interior home securityWe have given you a lot of good tips for planning the security for the outside of your new home build, now we need to focus on the interior. There are several things you can do to heighten the security of your doors and windows from the inside, to increase their protection.

For the windows we talked about the type of glass that you can have installed to help prevent break ins by smashing the glass. We also talked about not having high shrubs in front to obscure the view from the road. At the same time you want to have some privacy. This is where you can focus on your window coverings.

You are going to have a lot of different types of window coverings to choose from. Usually the type of emphasis that is put on these is for esthetic reasons. With a little thought and careful planning you can have window covering that look fantastic but still give you a little extra security. Ideally you want to go for the type of blinds or curtains that allow you to see out and let the light in but don’t give a clear view of the inside of the house. When you are choosing the ones that are best for you keep these factors in mind. It is more difficult to see in with blinds, but not everyone prefers these types of window coverings. So take your time to shop around.

When it comes to the doors, we already talked about the importance of the structure and the locks. The focus here was on the exterior doors. For some people just having good locks is not enough and they want something a little extra. It is distressing when someone breaks into your home when you are not there, but it is horrifying if there is a break in attempt when you are there. This is where the additional protection proves its worth.

Door night lock:

This is a device that is offered by Pre-lock that is really going to make you feel safe. It is used mostly for doors that have a double entry. This piece of equipment is screwed right into the floor, and prevents the door from being opened. So even if a thief managed to get past your locks, with the door night lock in place they still aren’t going to be able to get the door to open.

Master Lock:

This is really a neat tool for added protection that is easy to install as needed and affordable. For those that have patio doors it is ideal.

Another very simple but important step is to have a door viewer installed. When someone is at your front door you want to know who is there before you open it. No better way than with a door view.

Not everyone wants to keep the house locked up and the A/C running in the hot weather. Many like to open their doors to let the cool breeze and fresh air in. If you are one of these people then you are going to want to check out the amazing offerings that Pre-lock has for screen door protection.

These few tips for helping you with your new home build security is going to make you feel safe and comfortable.
