Should You Include Apps In Your Home Security

security appsThere is no doubt that we live in a world of technology and home security has capitalized on this. The security for a home can range from being very basic to very elaborate. Many people love the novelty of being able to control happenings at their homes via their smart phones. Now there are apps that can actually show you what it happening at any given moment.

While this may be great it may also lead to a source of frustration. Can you imagine being alerted of a break-in taking place at your home and you get to sit back and watch the thieves going through all your personal space? You in the meantime are many miles away and are helpless, although you can certainly alert the authorities in your area. If you have monitored security then this will most likely have already taken place.

While this may be frustrating to have to sit back and watch at least you may be able to capture the event and it can become a resource to help Police in their investigation.

There are now several companies that are promoting these apps at a price range of around $250. The premise is once you are alerted of a potential break in you can trigger a loud alarm in an attempt to scare the intruders away. No different than what your security system can do right? The added advantage of your security system is that it doesn’t have to rely on you having access to you app at the time of the break in.

What you have to keep in mind is that these apps only cover a small area. It is not likely that you are going to be monitoring them 24 hours a day, and they cannot alert the police for you.

What these can be considered as is a layer of security. Building layers of security for your home protection is a great idea. What this means is that the more obstacles you have in the way to thwart off a thief the better. It can begin with having excellent outdoor security measures in place. This may mean motion sensors and lighting, and if you wanted to go a step further you could have cameras installed.

Then making sure you have good security on your windows and doors, is another layer of security. Then the big one of course is your total security system. With enough security measures installed a thief is more than likely going to get frustrated and be prepared to move onto a less secure home.

Rather than second guess as to what is your best security measures, you are better off to talk to security professionals, like the Toronto locksmiths at Pre-lock. They may your security their business. They will advise you according to your security needs, which is the best way to go.
