HOLD-UP ALARM
Hold-up Alarm systems are usually installed for the purpose of alerting Police that a person or business is in immediate trouble that is usually in the threat of danger involving a weapon for the sole purpose of a robbery while people are at work.
Premises that have install Hold-Up alarms or panic buttons are generally a high risk business that have cash, jewellery, valuables, and or valuable securities that are kept on a premise and usually require the aid of employees to access the valuables that they could not get while the business is closed.
Hold Up alarms usually send a silent alarm signal to our ULC Listed Alarm central monitoring station alerting our operators to send the Police and allow them to respond in a special manor with the understanding there could be weapons involved.
Upon receipt of a Hold-up alarm our central station operators do not contact the premise for verification of the alarm signal as they would do from normal burglar alarm signals, in fact we inform the Police and make them aware of the event and insure they respond on the basis of someone being in immediate violence usually involving a weapon.
Generally Hold-up alarms buttons are very reliable as the activation technique usually involves pressing 2 buttons at the same time to prevent false activations. Hold-up alarms are usually given the highest priority through a secure connection via 911 dispatch of the emergency. It is important that all Hold-up alarm buttons are explained and understood by all people working in a business to minimize the possibility of a false activation as Police take such alarm very serious and should never be pushed as a test and should only be professionally installed and regular maintenance and system operation is very important.
